Canterbury Tales Casting

“SERGEANT AT LAW”

Chuck Norris could fit into the character of the “Sergeant at Law’’ because he gives off this tough demeanor as though he demands respect and order wherever he goes. Chuck Norris is known greatly for his martial arts career, as well as his acting career. He starred in a famous show called “Walker Texas Ranger” where he played the character “Cordell Walker”, who was a Texas Ranger that served justice and put bad guys behind bars. In the Canterbury Tales, it talks about how the sergeant ‘’was of noted excellence’’ and ‘’a man to reverence’’; this type of accolade is exactly how Chuck Norris is perceived in his role in “Walker Texas Ranger”. As a matter of fact, Norris was just honored, in Dallas, Texas, to become a Texas Ranger. Now he is one in real life.

“KNIGHT”

The first person who comes to my might when I think of a knight is Brad Pitt. Most people know him from various movies he’s starred in, but one particular movie comes to mind when I think of him and that movie is “Troy”. In this movie, Brad Pitt is playing a warrior named Achilles who fights for his name to be remembered as “a great warrior” and win all the respect from everyone a far. In The Canterbury Tales it speaks of how the knight fought in many battles and was a respected and honorable knight; also how he led his troops into battles and slayed all of his enemies. In the movie Troy, Brad Pitt does the exact same thing as he tries to lead his troops in a victory over the Greeks to conquer Troy.

“DOCTOR”

For the character “Doctor” in Canterbury Tales Hugh Laurie of the TV drama series “House” comes to mind. He fits the character well because as he plays Dr. House in the TV series, he brings such feeling and meaning to his part as though he is the greatest doctor there is. When I was younger, my mom, sister, and I would sit and wait for “House” to come on so we all could watch Hugh Laurie, “Doctor House”, speak all his fancy medical terms, and figure out what was wrong with people and make them all better. When I was a boy, I thought he was the greatest doctor ever, and in a way, wanted to be like him when I grew up. The Canterbury Tales describes the doctor as being very smart in his field and having a cure for everything a person had. They also say “No one alive could talk as well as he did, On points of medicine and of surgery”, which is exactly how Hugh Laurie was, in the show “House”.

Guide through hell

If I had one person to lead me through Hell, it would be my mom. I would choose my mom because I'm closer to her than anyone in my life. Through all the bad times she's been with me and I know for a fact, if I were to go through Hell, I'd definitely need someone to comfort me and my mom would be the best candidate.

Prologue addition superman poem

Superman---- Jeremiah Sams and Caleb Barksdale.

He's the man that all super villains fear
Whenever he wins there is a big cheer
He is known by everyone far and wide
He is undefeated when the villains tried
The mighty Superman is far too wise
His God-like strength comes in no disguise
As he soars through the sky like an airplane
The villains run at the sound of his name
The mighty superman can not be touched
His mighty strength is by far too much

I think uniforms should be allowed in school. They should be allowed because if the kids wear uniforms in which they have to wear their shirts tucked in and have on decent length skirts then they'll look more presentable in public, and they'll also represent their school better. Uniforms will also be easier on the parents since the the kids are wearing a limited variety every day. This cuts spending on different outfits every month.

A song that I really like is called "Where would you go" by Babyface. He is a famous R&B singer and I love all of his music, but this particular song I love the most. Everytime I hear it I have to sing along. The smooth melody takes me into a happy place. In certain parts where he'll start to hit a high note I'll try and hit it exactly like him. I listen to the song everyday. I recommend it to everyone in the world!

FLORIDA STATE

Leadership is a characteristic of Florida State University (FSU) that interests me the most. Leadership appeals most to me because leadership is very important in everything you do, whether it’s at work, at school, on the football field, or even at church. Leadership is very important. It takes a well rounded institution to base its organization upon having leadership. I say this because it is not easy to be a leader, and not everyone can do it. It comes with great responsibility, accountability, setting standards, and also perseverance. When an institution says its program is based off of leadership, that lets me know that they also have character and integrity, which is very important to have at a school.

FSU’s leadership in academics as well as sports interests me also. With my major being medical science, I already know I’ll have what I need to be successful before I even set foot on campus because FSU has some of the best research facilities dealing with medicine and injury care prevention. With a university basing itself off of leadership, that tells me that I am safe and taken care of at that school and they will look after me. If a school has a bad habit of messing up student scheduling and having bad professors, then this is a sign of bad leadership, and I probably will not feel safe and secure there.

With me also being a student-athlete I also want to make sure that I have coaches that can be great role models to me and set high standards in everything I do, so I can be the best that I can be. I’ve heard many good things about FSU’s football coaching staff. Their football team is nationally ranked and the coaches are great as far as having character and being leaders on and off the field, thus paving the way for their players to follow.

Going to a university where they treat their student-athletes with good respect means a lot to me. Student first is everything. Football is a great avenue, but I know that football will not last forever, but I do know that a great education can never be taken away from you and with a university having great leadership, I know I can put my trust in them and know that I will be successful and get the best education. I also greatly consider FSU because by the school having great leadership characteristics, then that means some of the schools leadership capabilities will fall on me. This is so because a person is only affected by their surroundings. If you go to an area where there is very bad schooling, education, and teaching, that probably means that the students there won’t be that successful because they have not been challenged and pushed as far as education goes, and we all know, the real world is full of challenges. In life, it’s all about the “best” man winning, and with FSU, I feel as though I could become that “best” man.

The most interesting thing that happened last week was that I went to the Florida vs. LSU game on Saturday. Before the game started, almost everyone thought Florida was going to lose because LSU was ranked number 2 in the country while Florida was ranked number 17.

When I first came into the stands there were tens of thousands of screaming fans showing their gator pride while LSU had their fans cheering them on also. The whole atmosphere made me happy to watch the game.

When the game started I was on my toes because I didn’t know what was going to happen and the next thing I know BOOM; touchdown here, BOOM, touchdown there. As the game started to wind down and LSU was up by a couple of points, I thought to myself “Oh no, I hope Florida doesn’t give this game away”, then a couple of plays later the Gators score a touchdown to win the game! I was very excited because no one really expected them to win but they proved everyone wrong! Now they are undefeated and have moved to number 10 in ranking. So the lesson is, no matter what the press says, anything is possible with hard work. Go Gators!
